Almost any solution, emulsion suspension or dispersion can be spray dried - provided the dehydrated product acts as a solid substance. The spray dryer temperature profile is selected to achieve the optimum combination of product quality and drying economy.
Heat sensitive products such as many foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals are dried at comparatively low temperatures in order to avoid denaturation or deterioration of the products, whereas many industrial chemicals can be dried under very high temperature conditions with consequently improved drying economy.

Applications..............

Spray drying plants in operation for the following group of products :

• Dairy prodcts
• Engg products
• Fruit juice and other vegetable extract product
• Animal blood products
• Feed protein products
• Fertilizers and inorganic chemicals
• Ceramics
• Organic and pharmaceutical products
• Polymer products
• Detergent raw materials and
• Pigment and dyestuffs.

For commercial spray drying the following three atomizing systems are available.
Centrifugal atomization
where the liquid feed is accelerated an atomized by means of centrifugal force in a rapidly rotating disc.
Pressure atomization (Single-fluid nozzle)
where the liquid feed is atomized when being forced under high pressure through a narrow orifice.
Pneumatic atomization (two-fluid nozzle)
where compressed air supplies the necessary energy for atomization, and the liquid is fed to the nozzle without pressure.

The air powder is led from the drying chamber to a cyclone filter or alternatively to a bag collector or electrostatic precipitator for separation and product after-treatment.
Most plants are equipped with cyclone filters for primary separation of powder from the drying air. Cyclone system have a high separation efficiency, normally more than 99.5%, which for most product is sufficient to ensure a satisfactory low powder loss and to comply with local environmental protection regulations.

Bag collectors and Wet scrubbers are sometimes installed as supplement to the cyclone filter in order to maximise product recovery and to comply with the strictest environmental requirement.

Spray Drying Process Plant..............

Pawana Udyog is devoted to spray dryer processing technology. Plant design, engineering, fabrication, inspection, supply, erection and start-up are our profession. Our Test Centre and R & D department are the customers best assurance for optimum plant performance and drying economy.

A spray drying plant coverts a liquid feed into a uniform powder in a continuous operation. Within seconds the liquid is dried collected and delivered for further treatment without any intermediate manual handling.

Equipment for
- automization and drying.
- separation and after-treatment.
- product and heat recovery can be selected and engineered individually in accordance
with the special processing requirement.

The spray drying process is applicable to a wide range of products and industries. The temperature profile in the dryer can be adjusted to give optimum drying conditions for heat sensitive foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals as well as heavy industrial chemicals. Plant capacities from 1 kg/hr to 1 ton/hr water evaporation are available. Projects from laboratory size to large industrial spray dryer processing lines and turn-key plants are undertaken.
